Air France resumes SA flights


Air France has confirmed that flights between Paris and Johannesburg and Cape Town will resume and operate as scheduled this December.

The uprising comes after the airline suspended flights to travelers from southern African countries due to the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

According to the French state, the uprising is subject to the application of a new set of health protocols.

Regardless of vaccination status, all travelers to South Africa:

  • They are subject to the regime of compelling reasons, the relationship of which is specified in the travel certificate established by the Ministry of the Interior.
  • You must present, upon boarding, the negative result of a PCR test performed less than 48 hours before or an antigen test (TAG) performed less than 24 hours before the flight;
  • You will be subject to a mandatory test on arrival;
  • He will have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine, controlled by the security forces.

“It is important to note that the new requirements above apply to passengers with France as their final destination. Transshipment passengers should verify the entry and exit requirements applicable to their journey on Air France TravelDoc website and / or contact the pertinent authorities of the country of your final destination ”, said the airline.

Air France says that as part of its commercial policy, it currently offers fully modifiable tickets for all reservations until June 30, 2022.

“Customers can change their reservation at no cost or get a refundable credit voucher if they no longer wish to travel,” the airline said.

“If the airline cancels the flight, the customer can choose to postpone their trip, request a full refund of the ticket or receive a credit voucher, which is also refundable if not used.”

The airline added that as a safety measure, it is mandatory to wear a surgical mask on board, in the aircraft and throughout the trip.

“The air in the cabin is renewed every 3 minutes. The air recycling system on board Air France aircraft is equipped with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters identical to those used in hospital operating rooms, ”said the airline.

“Air France has also strengthened aircraft cleaning procedures, in particular with the disinfection of all surfaces in contact with customers, such as armrests, tables and screens before each flight.”
